The Hedgehog Super Highway is Whittington and Fisherwick Environment Group's (WFEG)  latest project and we want you all to get involved!

Hedgehogs are loved by many of us but in recent years their numbers have declined significantly because of habitat loss and we can change that.

The British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS) describes how each hedgehog needs an area equivalent to 30 football pitches to find food.

Fortunately, they are not territorial and many hedgehogs will share the same space, so, the creation of a Hedgehog-friendly garden may attract many different prickly visitors, but fundamental to their survival are ‘Hedgehog Highways’ that link these friendly habitats. Although, we already have some areas in the village suitable for hedgehogs they need far more, which need to be connected for our prickly friends to thrive.

That’s where you come in! WFEG will provide you with information and support to make your garden Hedgehog-friendly...

Our aim is to connect all the gardens so that hedgehogs can criss-cross the village to find food and we have an interactive map which is updated regularly, as more people join the scheme, to illustrate the Hedgehog-friendly spaces in Whittington, Fisherwick and Tamhorn.
